Unable to open PDF of a drawing due to Adobe Acrobat installation

Unable to open PDF file in Creo View
Creo View prematurely exits when trying to open a PDF and the following error message is shown:

You need a supported installation of Adobe Acrobat to use this installer

Cause

• Version of installed Adobe Acrobat is not supported​ 

• Old/incorrect listings of Adobe Acrobat in registry

Resolution

1. Make sure that the installed version Adobe Acrobat/Reader is supported according to the Creo View Clients & Toolkits Software Matrices. See PTC Platform Support

2. ​​Reinstall the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC/Acrobat DC with the following steps:

• • Uninstall the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC/Acrobat DC

  • Remove the Software Subkeys from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM) and HKEY_CURRENT_USER (HKCU) for the no longer installed Adobe product release - make sure not to remove anything else

  • Make sure no old Adobe Acrobat installations are listed

  • Install an Acrobat version according PTC Platform Support

  • Launch Creo View and complete the plugin installation
